This is the left over crushed stalk after the juice must have been extracted from the sweet sorghum stem. Many research efforts have attempted to use bagasse as a renewable feedstock for power generation and for the production of bio-based materials.chopped up bagasse.

Bagasse is often used as a primary fuel source when burned in quantity, it produces sufficient heat energy to supply all the needs of a typical sweet sorghum refinery, with energy to spare. To this end, a secondary use for this waste product is in cogeneration, the use of a fuel source to provide both heat energy and electricity, which is typically sold on to the consumer electricity grid.

Bagasse is a source of forage and silage from sweet sorghum has higher biological value when used as feed for animals

Bagasses as organic fertilizer or for paper manufacturin an as biomass for gasification system It is usually used to generate electricity power, animal feed or organic manure.

Processed bagasse ready for use in furnace to generate electricity. This could be born on line to generate electricity.

Bagasse is also used as a tree-free alternative for making paper. This process requires no bleaching, is more biodegradable, easier to recycle, and overall has less impact on the environment.[citation needed] As in sugar production, the sludge left over after removing the cellulose fibers, is used to power the paper-mills. A number of commercial sites advertise such uses.

Bagasse is used to make insulated disposable food containers, replacing materials such as styrofoam, which are increasingly regarded as environmentally unacceptable (see styrofoam bans). Insulated disposable food containers made of bagasse are commercially available.

Bagasse may be used as fuel in the sugarcane mill or as a source of cellulose for manufacturing animal feeds. Paper is produced from bagasse in several Latin-American countries, in the Middle East, and in all sugar-producing countries that are deficient in forest resources. Bagasse is the essential ingredient for the production of pressed building board, acoustical tile, and other construction materials.
